Jason Francis - Lead Vocals, Rhythmn Guitar
I was born in Ohio, at Wright-Patterson Air Force base on Christmas Day, 1971, but, as my parents returned to central Wisconsin when I was still very young, I have always considered this area home. My musical influences started young. Most of my mom's family was musical in some way or another. My grandpa played fiddle, my uncle strummed guitar, and even my mom was known to play the accordian every now and then. I grew up surrounded by classic country music, but as I grew older, I found a love for southern rock greats like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet and the Kentucky Headhunters. Soon my tastes stretched to the hard rock sounds of AC/DC and Metallica. I have always enjoyed singing, and after leaving the Army, I found myself living in Tennessee, an hour from Nashville. It wasn't long before I found myself on a stage, singing country music. I didn't know what to do while I was up there singing, so my uncle taught me a few chords on the guitar.(Mainly, so I could hide behind it.) My nerves got better with time, and thankfully, so did my guitar playing. When I returned to Wisconsin in 2001, I started playing at some open mics in the area. It wasn't long before I had met other area musicians and started talking about getting a group together. In 2002, I started Rattlesnake & Eggs. The members have changed several times over the years, but the band still plays on. When I look back at where this band started, I'm amazed at how far we've come and how much we've grown. I'm so proud of this current group, and feel blessed to play with such good musicians and good people. Musical Influences: Willie Nelson, Hank Williams Jr., George Strait, Trace Adkins, Chris LeDoux, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, AC/DC, BB King
